The Navy illuminates the Trocadero
Trocadero Esplanade and Gardens, 75116
Saturday, September 5
The French Navy transforms the Trocadéro into a giant screen, unfolding four centuries of naval history in eight tableaux.
The journey begins with the ocean of perils, passes through the founding edict, and then arrives at the Chesapeake. This victory of 1781, which the Navy considers emblematic and which directly contributed to the independence of the United States, is commemorated here to the day. The Industrial Revolution and the era of power then take over, before contemporary missions, the spirit of camaraderie, and future innovation. The eight sequences follow chronological order, giving the show the form of a continuous narrative rather than a succession of segments.
The building facades and the Eiffel Tower receive three-dimensional projections, light effects, water jets, smoke, and lasers. The Bagad de Lann-Bihoué and the French Navy Band provide live accompaniment.
A military ceremony opens the evening on the esplanade. The following show can be viewed from the gardens, without tickets or reservations.
