Seven hundred photographs selected from a collection of eight thousand: for the bicentenary of photography, the Bourse de Commerce opens Remember Me, from Le Gray to Cindy Sherman, with Irving Penn and Raymond Depardon as guests of honor, from October 7, 2026 to January 18, 2027.

Werner Bischof photographs a Peruvian child playing the flute, then dies in a car accident; the film will be developed after his death. Annie Leibovitz photographs John Lennon naked, curled up against Yoko Ono; a few hours later he is assassinated outside his home. Both images are on display at the Bourse de Commerce. Remember me. The formula comes from a work by Barbara Kruger, who took over the Rotunda and transformed the Passage's display windows into light boxes. It applies to the seven hundred photographs gathered there, drawn from a collection of eight thousand.

The exhibition rejects chronology. It opens with hands shuffling dominoes, an image by Edward Steichen, never before exhibited, and proceeds through associations: Le Gray's seascapes against Eileen Quinlan's waves, Avedon's Marilyn against the Cindy Sherman who embodies her, August Sander's men against Sherrie Levine's reinterpretation. Irving Penn occupies the second gallery with more than four hundred prints; he noted on the back of each one the title, the print quality, and the chemicals used. Raymond Depardon holds the third spot with his France in color, its shops and squares: a single image per location, a rule he has imposed on himself since the 1980s, traveling the country in a van with a tripod camera, to slow down his gaze. The Bourse de Commerce brings together about fifty of these, all from the Pinault Collection. The exhibition concludes with Man Ray's My Last Photograph, a black square painted on cardboard.
