The Carnavalet Museum celebrates its 160th anniversary: a free weekend and a special evening event

CARNAVALET MUSEUM
October 3 and 4, 2026

One hundred and sixty years after its opening, the Carnavalet Museum is celebrating its anniversary in a manner befitting its age and reputation: two days of festivities with free admission and no reservation required, and an all-night event on Saturday.

Saturday, October 3rd, begins at a leisurely pace, with interactive tours of "Paris Here and There" at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, guided walks focusing on unusual objects in the collections at 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM, and a participatory creative workshop from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Then the museum transforms. Starting at 6:00 PM, the "Dreaming of Paris" evening event features a jazz concert by the group NODZ in the galleries until 9:00 PM, an immersive game throughout the museum, a glitter bar, drag performances from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and a DJ set by Mancha BRS to close out the evening at 11:00 PM.

On Sunday the 4th, the program takes a different turn: tarot readings at 11:15 am, 3:15 pm, and 4:30 pm; themed "Queer Paris" tours at 2 pm and 3:30 pm; drag bingo hosted by Kings Factory from 12:30 pm to 2 pm; and a creative space dedicated to dreams from 2 pm to 4 pm. Everything is free, subject to availability, and most events do not require registration.

Between events, there are the collections, free all year round, and the best history of Paris you can read while walking: from medieval shop signs to Proust's bedroom.

To continue: our top most beautiful free exhibitions in Paris and the free museums this first Sunday.
