Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI at Fontainebleau: the opening weekend with Sofia Coppola's film

Château de Fontainebleau
From October 11, 2026 to January 25, 2027

Versailles has the legend, Fontainebleau had the queen: it was there that she took refuge, in Turkish apartments and boudoirs that she had decorated to her taste.

The château is dedicating an exhibition of more than 120 works to her and Louis XVI, from October 11, 2026, to January 25, 2027, in the Salle de la Belle Cheminée: portraits, drawings, furniture, and objects loaned by major collections, to recount the couple's stays and the gentle lifestyle at Fontainebleau on the eve of the Revolution.

The opening weekend sets the tone. Sofia Coppola's film Marie Antoinette, filmed partly in the château, is being screened as part of the "Marie Antoinette, Queen of the Screen" series, from October 10 to 18. The Queen's Concerts will take place on Friday the 9th at 7:30 pm and Sunday the 11th at 3 pm, featuring a soprano, a tenor, and the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock (€27, €20 concessions, €44 including castle admission). The theatrical tours, "Marie Antoinette's Boudoirs," begin on Saturday the 10th and continue every Saturday (€27, €10 concessions).

The exhibition itself is included with castle admission.
