Ambassadeur de Suède entre 1739 et 1742, Carl Gustaf Tessin collectionna avec ferveur et passion de nombreuses peintures et dessins de grands maîtres tels que Boucher, Dürer ou Rembrandt… Le Louvre rend hommage à cet homme de goût qui a accumulé fiévreusement des chefs-d’œuvre durant les trois années de son séjour parisien. Exposées pour certaines d’entre elles pour la première fois dans la capitale, ces œuvres magnifiques offrent l’occasion de mieux comprendre le marché de l’art du XVIIIème siècle et le goût de ses acheteurs.
