Comment l’arrivée de la photographie et de la lithographie a-t-elle influencé l’esthétique des estampes japonaises modernes dans la première moitié du XXe siècle ? Le Musée Art & Histoire de Bruxelles poursuit son exploration des codes esthétiques nippons en reprenant l’histoire de l’estampe traditionnelle là où sa précédente exposition se terminait. L’institution a rassemblé, pour l’occasion, plus de 220 créations remarquables habituellement conservées à l’abri des regards dans deux illustres collections privées. Il s’agit donc de l’unique chance de voir en vrai ces majestueux trésors sur bois gravés, représentatifs d’un art ancestral qui sut se renouveler.
