Proximity exhibition by Ivana Živić at the Boris Gallery: Our images!
For this brand new exhibition, Galerie Boris invites us to hold our breath, to take a deep breath before immersing ourselves in the magnetic work of Ivana Živić . A stone's throw from the Champs-Élysées, the Parisian institution nestled in the Parisian golden triangle today lifts the veil on its enigmatic portraits of women submerged by water. If a mystery envelops these dreamlike swimming scenes, it is that these half-asleep naiads seem to let themselves be carried away by the current: one of them sails in the moonlight in a cozy interior with bluish tones, while that another seems to have failed under the luminous dome of the Galeries Lafayette. None of these modern-day Nereids seems to be in bad shape, quite the contrary. These nymphs in ceremonial attire, sometimes dressed in vaporous wedding dresses, float here on the surface without ever drowning. Like Narcissus bewitched by his own reflection, we in turn plunge into these troubled identities to contemplate one last time these anonymous, lonely figures. One of them, however, found love, Ivana Živić immortalizing the passionate embrace of a couple above water.
