A top secret project soon to be revealed at the Musée du quai Branly? Yes and it’s a world exclusive! For more than ten years, African-American superstar Kehinde Wiley, Barack Obama's official portraitist, has been working confidentially on a mysterious series of portraits of African heads of state. Shared between Dakar, Lagos and New York, the artist is preparing today to reveal in Paris his accomplices, presidents and leaders whose names will be kept secret until the last minute. From this enigmatic exhibition, we will therefore know nothing more except that the painter wanted to explore the history of aristocratic, royal and military portraiture in 17th and 19th century Europe by transposing to the contemporary era on the black continent.
