How could graffiti, this art which has always been an act of disobedience, of rebellion against pre-established norms, enter a cultural institution? For over 30 years, Nasty has worked to demystify the complex language of street art to the general public with his gothic calligraphy, mixed with a contemporary pop-art aesthetic. From his modest beginnings in 1988 in the alleys of the capital to his entry into art galleries and institutional circles, the exhibition traces the fascinating journey of a singular artist, through a collection of carefully preserved archives , ranging from his photographs to his sketchbooks. This large-scale retrospective offers us a reflection on patience and disorder, two notions often put aside in our frenetic world, yet at the heart of the artist's work. Nasty captured time in his designs, layering letters and numbers to create “time bubbles.” Meticulous lettering in explosive colors that breathe new life into the world of graffiti, inviting us to see art from a different perspective, through the eyes of an artist who defies expectations and redefines the limits of creativity.
