Could the treasure of Notre-Dame de Paris be cursed? If the Louvre Museum rules out this possibility, the incredible story hidden behind the capital's most precious treasure could well make us say the opposite. Did you know, for example, that these vestiges were many times looted, confiscated, hidden, moved before they were finally melted down, disappearing entirely in the space of one night in August 1792? But where do these relics miraculously saved from the flames in 2019 come from? For the first time, the Louvre goes back in time by reconnecting with the history of the treasure before the Revolution. A unique opportunity to admire a veritable anthology of this priceless neo-Gothic ensemble with spectacular pieces and important preparatory drawings. Through the presentation of a hundred relics, pieces of goldwork, illuminated manuscripts, priceless engravings and other figured documents, the exhibition allows a glimpse of a tiny part of the richness of one of the most beautiful French monuments, since its origins. in the Middle Ages until its resurrection in the 19th century then its flourishing with Viollet-le-Duc under the Second Empire.
