We then follow the epic journey of a soul, from its birth to its death, through a set of 18 paintings and 16 charcoal drawings. Like a human life, his journey will be dotted with the different vicissitudes that are inherent to him: birth, childhood, dangers of bad education, return to the right path, budding love, dream of an ideal, then experience of reality which ends in the worst way: the loss of the loved one. The entire second part is then that of decline where, having become an adult, the soul is confronted with the misfortunes and temptations of human life such as solitude, doubt, refusal of God, until the fatal fall to the outcome of which the soul ends up obtaining its redemption.

This universal experience which will resonate in each of us is here sublimated by the talent of Louis Janmot, whose talent was able to capture each of its moments to restore all of its essence and depth. The artist possesses this talent not only with his brush, whose accuracy, perfect mastery of colors and sense of staging gives a unique and striking result each time, but also with his pen. Because the Poem of the Soul, in addition to being a graphic series, is a long poem of nearly 3000 verses which completes our experience by knowing how to describe it with the words that we did not know how to find.

We can therefore only recommend this exhibition, the discovery of which could be a real revelation, as it echoes what is most intimate and most important within us. And if the best exhibitions are those that we remember for a long time, it is very likely that this will be one of them...
