What will tomorrow look like? From a peaceful and prosperous future to a timid and uncertain future, there is sometimes only one step, a change of outlook, a new perspective. We still have to dare to project ourselves... Between predictions, oracles, upheavals and capitulations, Lafayette Anticipations (you can't make it up) looks back at the complex relationship we have with this coming unknown. The exhibition, soberly called Coming Soon, combines historical drawings, recent works and modern installations for an offbeat foray towards this much-feared new horizon. Whether it is terribly distressing in the prince of black romanticism Johann Heinrich Füssli, organic and hybrid in Mimosa Echard or durable in the floating worlds of Tomás Saraceno, the future here becomes a space-time in permanent metamorphosis, an allegory of all possibilities, simultaneously synonymous with hope, waiting and real torment.
