A retrospective of Sofia Coppola at the Cinémathèque
Notice to movie buffs: we have found your meeting of the week. The Cinémathèque dedicates its week to a retrospective of the filmography of Sofia Coppola.
The opportunity to discover the work of a director with a truly unique touch. Because since her debut almost 25 years ago, Sofia Coppola has been at the origin of numerous films exploring, each in their own way, the condition of women in all its aspects.
The name chosen by the Cinémathèque to describe its retrospective is also evocative: Theory of the Young Girl, as if to designate a general theory which, through the exhibition of different portraits, goes beyond the sometimes reductive idea that one may have of women to show them in all their diversity.
The week will not just consist of a simple rediscovery of his old films. Indeed, his new feature film Priscilla will be previewed at the cinematheque this Monday, December 11 at 8 p.m. It will be a biopic dedicated to the wife of Elvis Presley, revealing at the same time the dark side of the King once in private.
So, are you interested? If so, go to the cinematheque near Bercy until December 12. Be sure to get a head start by reserving your tickets here
