Our images of the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at L'Atelier Grognard, discovering the machines of Florentine genius
19
Painter or engineer? Didn't Leonardo da Vinci, the unclassifiable, leave us more than 6000 pages of notes and drawings of inventions against a very limited number of paintings? Atelier Grognard has made its choice and will become, for the coming months, the iron, glass and steel showcase for 90 remarkable models straight out of its imagination, i.e. so many aborted projects which were never able to see the light of day… until today. The largest traveling exhibition dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci brings his drawings to life and offers us a true dive into the visionary mind of one of the greatest masters of the Renaissance. By touching and manipulating these fascinating machines as we wish, we discover here all the key facets of the artist-engineer: his passion for hydraulics, his attraction to aeronautics and his knowledge of the art of war. A captivating experience at the crossroads of science and history made possible thanks to the invention notebooks of the Florentine genius.
