Exhibition Suzanne Husky, the artist draws The deep time of rivers at the Drawing Lab
Denounce yes but with style. In this difficult exercise, Suzanne Husky is an authority figure. The Franco-American visual artist had already proven herself with a particularly fierce rereading of The Lady with the Unicorn, a masterful revision with heavy bulldozing on the theme of deforestation and the unequal fight between Man and Nature. The ecofeminist artist then tried her hand at ceramics with a larger-than-life laundry detergent container, denouncing the hypocrisy of the marketing discourse of large polluting industries in a series of satirical, corrosive and committed works... faithful to her image.
This unique exhibition is therefore no exception to the protean and activist practice of Suzanne Husky. The designer continues her plastic and critical reflection on the different forms of exploitation of natural resources by offering us this utopian tale of disconcerting gentleness. Part of the great tradition of naturalist illustration, this poetic fable invites us to reconnect with the pre-capitalist world, while its inks, gouaches and watercolors bring back to life in the collective imagination a fantasized pastoral landscape, a river inhabited by the animal totem of the artist: the beaver.
