A Frenchman builds a 7 meter high Eiffel Tower with... matches!

A surprising sculpture to say the least! After 8 long years of relentless efforts, a Frenchman named Richard Plaud living in Charente-Maritime not far from Royan reached the end of his accomplishments: he managed to build an Eiffel Tower out of matchsticks 7.20 meters high with 706 900 sticks! But that's not all... It even entered the prestigious Guinness Book of Records, listing a collection of internationally recognized world records!

A well-deserved victory, which he fully savors. Other equally incredible feats had already been achieved in the past, but none had surpassed such a record... In 2009, a Lebanese man notably created an Eiffel Tower made of matches, which then stood at 6.53m! A crazy and exceptional feat, but which still does not equal the record of our dear Richard!

And who says exceptional result means hard work: in total, 4200 hours of work were necessary to create this masterpiece, but also 23 kg of glue to attach each match one by one! Thus, started in 2015, this tower was finally able to see the light of day on December 27, which is none other than the centenary of the death of Gustave Eiffel! Amazing coincidence, isn't it?
