The Winter Ecstatics invest the defense underground
Who would suspect when passing through the La Défense business district that artistic excitement is teeming under their feet, just a few meters away? The Ecstatics, who had already invaded the esplanade, buried themselves underground to invest “the sunken cathedral”. With a name like that, the experience can only be mystical. Known to some Urbex enthusiasts, this place is usually closed to the public. But from this month of February, all urban explorers will be able to hide in the Puteolian underground to observe a contemporary art exhibition. The Interstices collective has imagined an unusual journey bringing together multiple media; photo, painting, video, sculpture, music and installation. The works, from around twenty artists, explore the theme of nature, reclaiming its rights from abandoned places. The collective belief in inexhaustible planetary resources is decried with the help of committed artistic work. A beautiful ode to nature is offered to us in this underground lair from which the city has turned away. So head into the depths of La Défense to immerse yourself in a world that feels like it came straight out of a science fiction novel!
