A long gray beard, a little purple hat, the main character of the animated film Léo is perhaps the one you were thinking of... Leonard Da Vinci. The cartoon focuses on his last three years of life spent at Clos Lucé in Amboise. Enough to make the town proud, which has made the former home of the humanist genius visitable. The exhibition documents the meticulous process of creating the animated film. From storyboard to animatic, from sketches to puppets, from models to decor, the manufacturing mechanisms are revealed to us. Come and understand the Tuscan polymath painter from a whole new angle in this immersive journey!

Did you know?

On the set of Léo, only four seconds of video are produced per day. The production of this animated film required a titanic amount of work, with experienced attention to detail. In one poor second of film, 24 images find time to scroll. Remember that the total duration of the film is 1 hour and 29 minutes. We'll spare you the calculation, there are 129,000 photos linked together in Léo. Patience is no longer the key to wisdom but to the profession of animator!
