Capturing the fleetingness of light hitting a scene for an instant, isn’t that the essence of Impressionism? For the 150 years of the movement, the CDR of the City of Argenteuil has taken it literally: on April 12 and 13 at nightfall, its facade will be covered with moving works of the most great impressionists. More than just illumination, a real free interactive show will take place there. Follow us !

To start the evening, a tavern spirit will come to Argenteuil from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In the heart of the greenery of the square and the sweetness of the coming spring, the sounds of several musical skits from the companies Les Zinzins, Les Matatchines and Trottoir Express will rise. In the style of the 19th century impressionists, you can dine to catchy melodies in front of creative street art activities.

At 9:30 p.m., the show begins! The paintings of Monet, Renoir and Caillebotte will be projected over nearly 500 m2, in an immersive scenography imagined by the Candela 550 collective. Our favorite? Visitors will be able to explore the impressionist works themselves, and interact with the video mapping using freely accessible tablets! In addition, the screenings will alternate with the poetic show Le Chant des poppies by the Fredandco Company, centered on two musicians surrounded by giant luminous poppies, so as not to leave the bucolic atmosphere of this idyllic evening.

This one makes particular sense: Argenteuil was one of the favorite places of these painters capturing the beauty of a moment. Claude Monet lived in this place bordered by plains for seven years, until 1878. The very beautiful natural setting of Argenteuil, whose name comes from the Gallic Argantoialon meaning "silver clearing", inspired the leader of the movement no less of 259 paintings, exhibited in the greatest museums in the world, from the Louvre to the MOMA in New York.
