The Marc Chagall exhibition, a fabulous dream at the Larock-Granoff gallery: our exclusive images!
At 13 Quai de Conti, art history has been in full swing for a century. This is where the Galerie Larock-Granoff, guardian of an exceptional artistic heritage, opens its doors to a unique exhibition, dedicated to the work of Marc Chagall. This celebration of beauty and creativity, initiated by Katia Granoff a hundred years ago, perpetuates the visionary impulse that marked the foundations of this avant-garde gallery. For this highly symbolic anniversary, the gallery is organizing a historic exhibition orchestrated around twenty works from the series Les Fables de La Fontaine, produced by Chagall between 1926 and 1927. Commissioned by Ambroise Vollard, these gouaches, witnesses of a bygone era, will be presented to the public for the first time since their dispersion almost a century ago. Alongside them, we discover a set of extraordinary paintings dating from the 60s to the 80s. Paris, music, circus art... so many recurring themes highlighted during this masterful exhibition.
The story of Katia Granoff is that of a destiny crossed by the ups and downs of History. Born in 1895 in Mykolaiv in Ukraine, she saw her world shattered from a very young age. Orphaned at sixteen, she was thrown into exile, going through the torments of the First World War to finally find refuge in Paris. It was there, in the heart of the City of Lights, that she flourished and found her way in the world of art. Through the vicissitudes of her career, she formed unwavering links with the artists of her time, including Marc Chagall, who would occupy a privileged place.
