Attention curious onlookers, budding artists and art enthusiasts! The Paris-Montparnasse Creation Market is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In this veritable open-air artistic ball, all disciplines come to dance: every Sunday, Boulevard Edgard Quinet is transformed into an open-air gallery where painters, sculptors, engravers, photographers and textile artists display their treasures to our greatest delight ( and at workshop prices)! Among the myriad of artists present for this edition, we find the dazzling silhouettes of Frédérique Marteau, reminiscent of the lines of Matisse in an almost pop art liveliness, the explosions of dancing colors of Christine Besson, or even the interpretations of the body as poetic as they are moving by Aline Eichner.

This walk through the heart of creation is far from new... Léger, Modigliani, Chagall and Soutine: all are linked to the rich artistic history of the emblematic Parisian district. Imagine: at the beginning of the 20th century, young penniless artists, nicknamed “the horde of Montparnasse” , exhibited their paintings in the open air, often on the ground. Rejected by official salons, these daring creators decided to present their works directly in the street, offering the world a window open to their universe... This display of avant-garde paintings rejected by the codes of the time earned the neighborhood the mischievous nickname from “Turnip Market”, pictorial inspiration from the current Creation Market.
