Will you be able to decipher Jean-Michel Alberola's philosophical puzzles? The Galerie Templon looks back on the brilliant career of the “king of nothing” by contrasting his most famous screen prints with his irresistible unfinished portraits. Between its Lacanian Neons, its Watts Riots and its fantastic Tatlines, the exhibition is seen more like a gigantic puzzle to be put together than a succession of colorful pieces placed side by side. Implicitly, we perceive here the image of a singular artist shared between figuration, abstraction and conceptual art, whose protean work questions notions of power, the dichotomy between reality and appearance, function and representation, veracity and pretense . A speech in tune with its times which resonates furiously with current events.
