Our images from the Paolo Roversi exhibition at the Palais Galliera, an icon of photography
24
Paolo Roversi owes his greatest success to nudity. A height for the most modest of fashion photographers who dared to expose at the dawn of the second millennium forty-nine models in the simplest camera, dressed only in their talent.
Twenty-five years after the scandal, it is the turn of the star portraitist of Kate Middleton and Rihanna to lay bare in the spotlight with the bringing together of 140 haute couture shots, previously unpublished photographs, artistic blurs, ghostly “Paoloroid” prints and some of the most famous magazine covers.
Between the pages of Vogue, here we find all of Paolo Roversi's muses. Sometimes wise, sometimes lascivious, impudent, victorious or impudent, Kate, Naomi, Natalia, Inès, Lida and Alexandra take a break in front of the lens, hold the visitors' gaze before parading before our eyes in a ballet of evanescent erased images sometimes with a thick colored line.
Transformed into a photographic studio for the duration of the exhibition, the Palais Galliera takes us from shadow to light in the footsteps of a self-taught artist, a watercolorist without colors, soloist of black and white and revealer of top models like no other before him.
