Olivier Debré exhibition at the Faidherbe Gallery

Flat areas of yellow and red, vertical brushstrokes, a spot of oil paint… Olivier Debré lets the color flow. From his first post-war drawings to his latest abstract landscapes which he enhances with generous impasto, the champion of lyrical abstraction delivers a marvelous hand-to-hand with the material, celebrating the beauty of nature in a ballet of captivating paintings. Galerie Faidherbe highlights this art of gesture, fierce and spontaneous, which draws the contours of the emotion it experiences. The painting becomes the guardian of an invasive, pure, sometimes streaked color, mother of abstract pictorial language.
