The fabric of the Flemish, the exhibition which combines fashion and painting at the Museum of Fine Arts in Angers
Angers Museum of Fine Arts Until September 22, 2024
Frans Pourbus and Johannes Vermeer victims of fashion? This exhibition sewn with gold threads will not say the opposite. After Tours and Le Mans, it is the turn of the Museum of Fine Arts of Angers to slip into the dressing room of the great masters of the Dutch Golden Age, at the search for its proud immaculate strawberries, its refined fabrics, its fragments of sumptuous fabrics and its precious lace. Between sobriety of black, cascade of pearls and excess of ribbons, the exhibition brings 17th th century Dutch fashion up to date in a ballet of paintings, drawings, silhouettes of period and engravings, over which time has little or no control.
