Zombies exhibition at the Quai Branly Museum!
Quai Branly Museum - Jacques Chirac
From October 8, 2024 to February 16, 2025
Friends, open your eyes. Around you, in the warm darkness, there are colorful faceless silhouettes, immense statues with empty eyes and scarlet robes, and supernatural figures inspiring the most forbidden of witchcraft. You can barely see, for the moment, the fate that awaits you... Approach these monumental paintings and these magical statuettes to decipher the millennia-old stories, of judgments and men with dire destinies, struggling to find eternal rest. Because, before The Night of the Living Dead, World War Z or Walking Dead, Haitian zombies were already there. Drugged, buried alive, exhumed then transformed into immortal slaves, the culprits would, according to legend, be condemned by powerful voodoo secret societies. Innocents, be careful! The gods of death can be cruel: they appear here in an impressive cemetery and a life-size voodoo temple, for a complete immersion in the exciting world of deities and ghosts, dark curses and warriors defying death. A rich and profound exhibition, which explores the myths, religions and practices of those who do not see death as an end.
