Anima (Ex) Musica, musical insects at the Philharmonie de Paris

6

Imagine a strange score composed of fragments of forgotten musical instruments, giving birth to a most surprising concert. Here the artists have transformed these abandoned objects into real works of art with sound and animation. The harmoniums reveal their most intimate secrets, the pianos reveal the beats of their hammers, and the accordions take on the dance of their mechanics. Here, each giant creature is accompanied by a specific musical composition, created in harmony with the instruments that participated in its creation. But without our presence and our movements, the magic will not be able to work. An extraordinary sensory stroll during which the magic of animated sculptures intertwines harmoniously with captivating musical compositions, contributing to the disturbing strangeness of an encounter which poetically reminds us that the world is a real orchestra. What if, ultimately, these giant insects were the guardians of an invisible musical world, as microscopic as it is captivating?

DID YOU KNOW?
The movements of the giant insects are inspired by the real behaviors of arthropods. The artists carefully studied the delicate movements of insects to give their creatures an aura of realism.
