This is a first in France. The European House of Photography takes us into the heart of three decades of creations by Dutch artist Viviane Sassen, during a large-scale exhibition spread over two floors of the institution. Through more than 200 carefully selected photos, a protean and unclassifiable work is revealed, where photography blends harmoniously with collage, painting and video, transcending the boundaries of conventional artistic mediums. A poetic and evolving journey, exploring the evolutions and metamorphoses of the artist during his prolific career, moving from the emblematic series which marked his fame – such as Umbra, Parasomnia, Flamboya and Roxane – to more intimate and little-known creations . Subtle graphic games, playing with light and shadow, mingle with intense and vibrant colors, creating a veritable visual kaleidoscope that awakens the senses and blurs the lines of perception. A unique approach to composition and color treatment which has earned Viviane Sassen international recognition, making her a reference in the world of fashion photography. Breaking the conventions of the luxury industry, the Dutch artist has created a unique style, going beyond the limits of genre by mixing the intimate with the spectacular.
