The Circulation(s) exhibition at CentQuatre
CENTQUATRE - PARIS
From April 6 to June 2, 2024
If we had to draw a composite portrait of European youth, what would it look like? Enraged at Glauco Canalis, nostalgic at Luca De Jesus Marques, futuristic at Fig Docher, his face changes according to moods, depending on the country too. In France, under the lens of Tom Kleinberg, young people become night owls and become this captivating nocturnal creature dancing until the end of the night in the ballrooms of New York and Seoul. In Northern Ireland, Audrey Blue explores gender identities with flamboyant queer feminine rage and polished aesthetics, while Italian Giulia Sidoli ironizes, deconstructing our dreams of sparkling beaches, burning sun and golden tans in a series of photos acidic and biting. From simple portraits to unreal landscapes, from photomontages to archive images, the Festival paints the portrait of this new generation of free and committed photographers by putting twenty-four immensely talented young artists in the spotlight. . Among them, we find the Ukrainian Maryna Brodovska whose poignant collages recounting these three days spent in the basement of a morgue in Kiev bitterly remind us of how the end of adolescence sounds for some.
