Superheroes & Co. exhibition - The art of Marvel comics at the International City of Comics and Images in Angoulême!
Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther... their names resonate like icons. Superheroes are invading the Angoulême Comic Strip City for a fantastic exhibition. Through nearly 200 plates, some of which have never before been revealed to the public, iconic costumes and life-size superheroes, more than eight decades of art and adventure are told here. A true tribute to the pioneers of the genre, Jack Kirby, whose boundless imagination sculpted the contours of the Avengers and the X-Men, Steve Ditko, who infused Spider-Man with his endearing and courageous personality, without forgetting the legendary Stan Lee . From John Romita to Frank Miller, including contemporary talents like Olivier Coipel or Mr. Garcin, the artists have succeeded one another to deliver this fabulous epic to us, bringing their personal touch to make the heroes evolve with the times. Drawings of inestimable value, which have captured the dreams and aspirations of entire generations, deploying an unsuspected palette of styles and techniques to bring the extraordinary to life. Through their talent, these artists have managed to go beyond stories of superpowers and epic battles to provide us with a mirror of our society, depicting universal themes such as injustice, discrimination or hope. These superheroes of the 9th art, guardians of our collective dreams and our popular culture, were able, through the force of their lines and the power of their stories, to capture the very essence of heroism and humanity.
