“For the future, I’m banking on Poliakoff.” No doubt, Wassily Kandinsky had an eye. However, nothing predestined this child of Imperial Russia to become one of the most brilliant students of the School of Paris. With a refined modernity, his paintings actually hide a more spiritual message than it seems... This fascinating exhibition explores the influence of sacred images in his secular work, raising disturbing parallels between the compositions of Giotto or Fra Angelico and those of the tenor of abstraction. Subtle scores of solid colors, his modern icons here seem to vibrate with an immemorial presence compared to the ancient treasures of his personal library.

Like the cult Mondrian dress, Yves Saint Laurent also presented a Poliakoff dress on the catwalk
