The Louvre School, a reference in Art History

3

The late Agnès Varda, the visual artist Louise Bourgeois and the novelist Mathias Énard cut their teeth there. This emblematic school, founded in 1882,
welcomes more than 1,500 students each year to train them in the art professions. Curators provide courses in the history of art and civilizations, but also teach techniques for safeguarding, conserving and promoting heritage. The big plus of the establishment: providing TDO – understanding “supervised work in front of the works”. These are courses offered directly in Parisian museums or monuments. Since 2017, the school has been masterfully managed by director Camille Barbillon, the first woman to occupy this position.
