A monumental, timeless and dazzling sculpture installed in the middle of Place Vendôme in Paris. This is what Swiss artist Urs Fischer offers us, whose work is presented by Gagosian at the Paris + by Art Basel fair. The artist embellishes the famous and chic Parisian square and immerses us in his universe through his large format work visible for free entitled “Wave”, dating from 2018. Sixth sculpture in his Big Clays series, this imposing work, 5 meters high which overlooks the viewer, is consistent with the artist's fascination with the reworked and transformed figure. Abstract for some and figurative for others, it leaves room for numerous interpretations. Sinuous and curved, the shapes of his sculpture are filled with softness and voluptuousness. Made of clay and covered with a material that reflects light, it almost seems to "come to life" in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Paris.
