Abstract Routes exhibition at MuMA - André Malraux Museum of Modern Art, Le Havre
MuMA - ANDRÉ MALRAUX MODERN ART MUSEUM
From October 28, 2023 to March 31, 2024
It’s hard to resist an exhibition name so full of promise. If the abandonment of figuration can frighten more than one and the turn towards abstraction can sometimes prove difficult for some, the MuMA reserves the royal road for us with this subjective exhibition articulated around a labyrinth of heads -work from his own collection. With this intimate and personal selection, this hanging guides us, step by step, in a gentle and slow progression of the History of art, as the motif disappears. The starting point for this modern and deliciously biased rereading.? Still life with one side
Composition with keys by Fernand Léger and familiar painting by Albert Gleizes on the other. Soon, the subject evaporates with abstraction as its final destination. Dilution of forms, erasure of the landscape and sense of the informal will thus punctuate this pictorial journey during which we will cross paths with familiar faces like those of Nicolas de Staël and Jean Dubuffet. Without doubt the prettiest way to end this excursion to the heights of abstraction.
