Twenty-eight editions already, and the PAGE(S) Book Fair remains more than ever one of the unmissable events for lovers of fine art books. On May 30 and 31, its Spring Biennial will bring together some thirty exhibitors at the Bastille Design Center, in a bibliophile Paris that smells deliciously of ink, leather and glue. The theme of the year:the art of bookbinding, showcased by ten guest bookbinders.

Bookbinding is both armor and garment, writes President Catherine Okuyama: it protects the enigmatic block of the book while revealing its beauty. Leather, paper, parchment, wood, metal, or lacquer, adorned with ironwork, embossing, or marquetry, it becomes a work of art in its own right. An exhibition of exceptional bindings, on loan from a major collector, completes the experience.

Around it, the exhibition space showcases the entire world of rare books, from minuscule to folio: accordions, cuts, collages, drypoint engravings, photographs, manuscripts. Authors, visual artists, and publishers form this "trio of magicians" so dear to bibliophiles. Yves Peyré's book, *Bibliophilia Today*, will also be presented. Free admission, catalog ten euros.
